Viva Las Vegas
A couple of weeks ago, I was back at Brad Garrett's Comedy Club in Las Vegas, and it was magical. I drove over to Vegas from Los Angeles with my buddy Ryan M Brewer. He is a phenomenal singer/songwriter, one of my favorites actually. I was lucky enough to get a sneak peek at his new EP with a full band that he's been working on and I let him listen to an advanced cut of my new album "Thirty One." I love trading work with other workaholics like myself. So inspiring to see other artist doing not only what they love but also gaining some success from it. When you see him playing near your city go check out his show he is absolutely incredible.
Upon arriving in Vegas, we quickly discovered that it was NFR's Rodeo Week . It looked like a Logan's Steakhouse exploded inside the MGM Grand, even the giant solid gold lion was wearing a cowboy hat. Needless to say, I didn't feel like I fit in haha.
The shows were FANTASTIC. Brad was working with us all week, I love watching him work. I thought I was pretty fast with off the cuff tags and audience response but Brad takes it to a whole new level. Ever single show was completely different, he would go from having casual conversation with you in the greenroom to stepping out on stage and firing from the hip with ease as the crowd tried to keep up with outbursts of laughter and applause. He is truly a wrecking ball up there. Always an honor to work with the big guy when he's in town.
I was also working with Cowboy Bill Martin. We hit it off immediately. I have seen Bill's picture up at clubs across the country for years now but we have never crossed passed until now. On top of killing it on stage, Bill also has a great charity set up called "Cowboy's Who Care" that supplies cowboy hats to children with cancer. Make sure you look Cowboy Bill when he comes to your city and please donate to his foundation "Cowboy's Who Care."
Never a dull moment hanging with those guys all week both on stage and off. We went out every night either dinning, gambling, trading war stories and pitching ideas. I didn't think things could get any better then my beautiful lady, Miss Hillary Tribbett showed up Friday afternoon. I absolutely love having her on tour with me, especially Vegas. It's so funny because most people think of Vegas as a crazy party town but Hillary and I think of it as relaxing getaway spot. We don't see Vegas as all night dance clubs, street walkers and gambling we go and get bath bombs and room service... as Borat would say, "It'sa VERY niiceee." Really hard to believe that Vegas is the tour stop that provides us the most therapy haha.
The last time I played Brad's I was paying audience members in a tight crowd to talk to me haha. The time before that I met a Prince. Both videos are up on my youtube. I always have a blast when I stop in and play Vegas.
