Malone's Mixtape featuring Katie Boeck

Katie Boeck

If you have not heard of Katie Boeck yet, you are about to - She is on the cusp of a major breakout. Katie hails from Montana but is now based right here in Los Angeles and has a soulful yet very late ninety's storyteller vibe to her. Katie wraps her lyrics up in slow, haunting voice inflections as she shares her stories of love, loss and growing up in Montana.

For the past few years Boeck has been showcasing her incredible talents all over the globe. She has done everything from travel the world with different girl groups including countries like India and Japan to playing solo on the legendary Santa Monica boardwalk. In late 2013 she started a kickstarter project where she raised over five thousand dollars in thirty days so she could record her official debut EP.

Listen to Katie talk about song writing.

Despite the influence of her mother's 70s folk music and her rural upbringing on a farm in Montana, Katie's sound has some very strong R&B rhythm and vocals to it. She delivers a sassy yet strong point of view for her young age with lyrics like:

"I'm a wild-eyed romantic, but i'm drowning in my carelessness, and even when i'm with you, and we're dreaming our big dreams, i'm stuck somewhere between, my tow most dangerous extremes, what are we waiting for..."

You can see Katie Boeck LIVE at the The Mint here in Los Angeles California July 15th, 2014. She also is a great person to follow on soundcloud, she is always posting new music and fantastic first listens to her projects.

Trust me, become a Katie Boeck fan now, thank me later.

Fire it up!

I finally got a chance to go solo on one of my favorite podcasts, the TNT Dynamite Party Hour!! I always have a blast with these guys, they are all based out of my home club of Morty's Comedy Joint in Indianapolis IN and we have done a couple live "The Michael Malone Show" podcasts together. Seriously, one listen to these guys and you will be hooked!

Sharing Road Stories

I had an absolute blast on the Road Stories Podcast today with the host Murray Valeriano (Comedy Central, NBC, FuelTV) and special guest Leo Flowers (Starz Staan' Dup, MTV).

Leo and I share what it was like losing our father's while touring, we talk about the mindset and reactions that go into fighting all those emotions and still having to perform every night. But don't worry it's not all about grief and sorrow, we also discuss our favorite places to pig out, and I even share the stories of getting bear hugged/dry humped on stage in Minnesota and being threatened by a heckler with a knife. Enjoy the show haha!

Sidenote : This podcast has the best intro music ever.

Back in the City of Angeles!

I got back to Los Angeles last night, and I have to be honest --It feels SO GOOD to be home! I am just now getting a moment to catch my breath after the "Even Fish Have Fathers Tour," where I did 27 cities in 17 states in four months. I am slowing down the road work for a few months to focus on projects here in Los Angeles, but I have tour dates scheduled in March and several colleges coming up! Check my tour page to see when I'll be near you!

As for being back, I started things off right by hiking with the family over at Runyon Canyon Park. Fraiser pup was super excited to be up in the hills - look at him cheese'n!
